Certain life events can affect your Children’s Mercy benefits. See what you may want to consider and do as you navigate life’s changes. If you have a qualifying life event, benefit changes must be made on the Infor HR Talent website within 30 days. All benefit changes that are a result of a qualified life event and are made in Infor HR Talent within 30 days will take effect on the first day of the month following the change, with the excetion of newborns. Benefit coverage for newborns will be retroactive to their birth date.

New child
(birth, adoption)

Congratulations! What an exciting time for you and your family. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take.

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as adding a new child to your family, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Getting married

Congratulations on tying the knot! Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as getting married, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. You will be required to submit a copy of your marriage certificate. Visit the Infor HR Talent website or email benefits@cmh.edu to adjust your benefits coverage.

Getting divorced
(or legally separated)

As you navigate this new chapter of your life, use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take.

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as getting divorced, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. You will be required to submit documentation of the life event. Visit the Infor HR Talent website or email benefits@cmh.edu to adjust your benefits coverage.

Death in the family

We are very sorry for your loss and extend our deepest condolences to you and your family. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as a death in your family, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit the Infor HR Talent website or email benefits@cmh.edu to adjust your benefits coverage.

Change in work status
(e.g., to part-time or full-time, PRN to full-time)

When your work status at Children’s Mercy changes, you might need to change your benefits, too. Upon receipt of your confirmation email for an FTE change, you will be able to enroll or make benefits changes. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

Loss or gain of benefit coverage
(you or a dependent)

Gaining or losing health insurance can occur for many reasons, such as turning age 26 when you are no longer eligible for coverage on a parent’s plan or adding/dropping coverage on a spouse’s plan. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as gaining or losing other benefits coverage, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. You will be required to submit documentation of the life event. Visit the Infor HR Talent website or email benefits@cmh.edu to adjust your benefits coverage.

Dependent day care change

Making changes to your dependent day care arrangements can be a big change for you and your family. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

This is a qualified life event, allowing Dependent Care FSA changes only (changes to other benefits are not allowed). When you experience a dependent day care change qualifying life event, you have 30 days to make changes to your Dependent Care FSA related to your event. You will be required to submit documentation of the life event. Visit the Infor HR Talent website or email benefits@cmh.edu to adjust your benefits coverage.

Leaving Children’s Mercy

We wish you the best in the next chapter of your life. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

This is a qualified life event. After you’ve left the company and are no longer eligible for Children’s Mercy benefits, you are eligible to enroll in other coverage, such as COBRA coverage or your spouse’s benefits. Ask your spouse’s employer for details about their enrollment process and deadline.

Retirement

Congratulations on your retirement! You’ve earned it. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

This is a qualified life event. After you’ve retired, you may be eligible for Medicare and/or Social Security benefits. Learn more on the Social Security website. You may also have the option to enroll in COBRA coverage or your spouse’s benefits. Ask your spouse’s employer for details about their enrollment process and deadline.

Serious illness

We’re here to support you during this difficult time. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take.

This may be a qualified life event. If so, you are able to change your benefits coverage due to this event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as a serious illness, and need to go on a leave of absence, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. You will be required to submit documentation of the life event. Visit the Infor HR Talent website or email benefits@cmh.edu to adjust your benefits coverage.

Leave of absence

Children’s Mercy’s leave of absence benefits are here to support you when you need it most. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.
